Pet/House sitting/Dog walks starting @ visits/walks $15+/day, in home 24 hour boarding $4+/day (i.e. small animals/birds/herpitiles, dogs/cats start at $28+/day for 24 hour boarding)-...depends on type of service, quantity of request and pet demographics. Every pet sitter is in this industry because they love animals, who doesn't? I mean, who wouldn't love being around all those cute little faces? So what makes someone better than the next you ask? First of all they should not only love animals, but have lots of experience with them. Second, they should also have some kind of training in emergencies and property security if they are going to enter your home. If a security patrol officer needs a trade license, insurance, etc, so should your pet sitter! Even security cannot enter the property or take care of pets because they need a CERTAIN kind of insurance and bonding. This means your sitter needs to have this. Second if an animal is going to be in some one else's home they need to have insurance, and more if the board more than one family of pets at a time (multi-pet boarding a la a boarding kennel, camp or facility except its 100% in a private home environment and is the equivalent value to if you rented out a small facility or camp all for your own pets). Otherwise you can get sued if something should go wrong. Third, Your sitter should be a "Professional Pet Sitter" guaranteeing that they would be around for you even years to come....So congratulations - you have stumbled on the ad of one insured, bonded, tax-paying, security trained, background check by the federal government Professional Pet Sitter who is not only experienced (over 20 years, 2 professionally, almost 18 non-professionally, and 10 years trade licensed with references and letters of recommendation to prove it) and loving of animals but possess a state trade license in professional property security. This means when I come to your home, I know exactly what to look for, how long it will take to do the RIGHT job, how to provide the right care to your pets as well as your home and am proven trustworthy. Please note there is NO trade license for pet sitters exclusively, not yet anyway, "License" refers to Business License or Tax Certificate by location and with a company not a provider, please don't let someone trick you into thinking this license qualfiies them as a pet care provider or proves they pay their business taxes or applies to every other sitter as rules and qualification change for each city. However a Security License by the state of California does exist and qualifies someone as a House Care Provider. I know that 30 minutes is not enough sometimes to feed, walk, water, play with a dog, pick up poop, give meds and do a complete security check...I see that a lot in this ads - the walk or potty break alone is 15-20, the security check is at least 10-15 minutes depending on size of property, and everything else could take anywhere from 5-20 minutes on its own and this is assuming that only one dog is involved, the more pets the more time, etc. Please make sure you hire someone for enough time to get the job done right each time for what you, your house and your pets need.
