Description
* { font:inherit; } Please contact Sandra (sandradsimpson@cox.net) for more information about this pet. Please download our adoption application and submit completed applications to SDSecondChance@gmail.com with the dog's name in the subject. We must have an application from you in order to answer any questions. Athena is a 1 yr old lab mix and just so sweet! Athena is truly a dream dog. She previously had some fear issues, but she is really making significant progress! When I go on my daily excursions, Athena is always my favorite to take along with me. Whether its road trips, the dog beach, trips to the countryside, picking up a box of pizza, going out for coffee, childrens soccer games, daily walks, camping, you name it, she would be more than happy to accompany you. Apart from spooking randomly at sudden vibrations (such as a creaking metal plate on the side walk), her behavior in public is superb. The trick is not to let the sudden spook distract you and just keep on doing whatever your doing. She recovers quickly and learns super fast. She is housebroken and only chews on her chew toys. She is super cuddly and will almost cause you to fall off the bed or couch because she is so busy licking you and wiggling next to you. She is okay with cats, sometimes she chases and sometimes she ignores. She will sniff the cat for a few seconds - then walk away. Do not let her breed fool you, she will not guard your house at all. She is a big baby and will run away from strangers. She has super nice doggie manners and is very welcoming and friendly when the neighbors dachshund visits. The other day two stray Akita/ St. Bernard mixes came over and she sat down and patiently let them smell her and then took a nap with them. She needs consistent exercise and a lot of it. She pulls on the leash so I use a gentle leader and she does fabulous with it. Athena is great with kids as well and would be an awesome dog for a family! She is spayed, UTD on shots and ready for some loving! Want to meet her? Just contact us. All of our dogs are in private volunteer foster homes, and as such the individuals most qualified to answer any questions regarding the dog would be the family that they have been living with! We do not have a central shelter or kennel locations - you must make a private one-on-one meet and greet appointment with each individual dog at the foster family's convenience. To protect our foster families' privacy, we must have an APPROVED adoption application on file before we release their contact information. All of our dogs are fixed (spayed/neutered) and UTD on shots before adoption. We have a 2 week foster-to-adopt period, during which time the adoption fee is fully refundable if the dog is returned. At the end of the 2 week FTA period, a volunteer will do a home visit to finalize the adoption. Adoption fees vary from dog-to-dog, but generally range from $150 - $200.
