Clinical Counselors provide short-term, solution-focused, non-psychiatric individual, couples, and group clinical intervention for eligible clients. Conduct intake, screening, assessment, and referral of clients as appropriate. Based on the assessment, work with the client to establish an individual treatment plan outlining the goals of treatment. Provide individual, couples and group counseling. Offer prevention and education programs and services as practicable based on client needs. Maintain all counseling case documentation in accordance with all applicable policies, laws and instructions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
* Master’s Degree in Social Work from a graduate School of Social Work accredited by the Council on Social Work education, or
* A Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from a graduate program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy, or
* Doctoral degree in Psychology from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association
Licensure:
* Clinical license/certification to provide clinical services as an independent practitioner. Acceptable licenses are: LCSW, LICSW, LMFT and LCP. Because of contract requirements, we regret that we are currently unable to consider LPCs for this position.
Experience:
* A minimum of two years of full-time, post-master's supervised clinical experience
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Professional experience working with military families or personal military lifestyle experience
* Knowledge of the difficulties of adjusting to general life stresses as well as those resulting from the requirements of military life and experience providing short-term counseling for those issues
* Ability to perform accurate assessment of the client's presenting problem and to plan effective treatment for that problem
* Knowledge of standard documentation requirements for clinical casework
* Knowledge of other available military and community referral resources appropriate for clients
* Ability to intervene in crisis situations, using sound professional judgment, ethical practice and common sense
* Ability to work effectively with diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
* Proficiency in oral and written communication skills
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software and skilled in the use of office software to enter appropriate case documentation information into FFSMIS
