Description

Parajubaea torallyi palms from Sucre, Bolivia. Also known as Pasopaya Palm, Bolivian Mountain Coconut

Plants were grown from seed collected in 2001 and are approximately 3 ft. tall. Unusual fast growing palm not often found in the US. Produces small cocos which have edible fruit inside similar to coconut meat. Difficult to germinate. Ultimate height of around 40 ft, 18 ft spread. Full sun, wind tolerant with fine leaves.

Seedlings are robust and grow quickly after its first pinnate leaf. The palms like rich soil (humus), good drainage and well watered for good growth speed. Some cultivated palms in clay produce smaller fruits and seeds. The most cold tolerant, hardy and fastest growing of the Parajubaeas. It has been found growing at altitudes of 3400 mtrs which makes this the highest elevation palm in the world.

I have plants in container sizes from 4 - 8 gallon tree pots and one larger one in a 24 inch box. Priced from $50 to $140 depending on plant/container size.
